Fire flies

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 12 July 2010 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

A little detail of one of the more colourful community groups dancing their way through the streets of South Shields during the 2010 Cookson Parade on Saturday 3rd. July.

The processing involved making a black and white layer on top of the original colour, then applying a layer mask to paint through and show the colour. The unmasked section was then treated to some high pass filtering, but instead of using the overlay blend mode (as you might ordinarily do), I set the layer mode to normal for this neutral grey embossed effect.

Hope you have enjoyed this small series, but it's time to move on, I have lots of more new material to get out!
