Belgian F16 with decoysPosted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 29 July 2010 in Transportation and Portfolio. The Belgian F16 dropping its flares over Seaburn Beach during its display at the Sunderland International Air Show 2010. I thoroughly enjoyed the event but unfortunately could only attend the first day, and so missed the RAF Red Arrows who flew on Sunday. @Henrik Herskind: Nothing dramatic is my guess, just something by which the crowds can follow the jet in its high speed climb. @dotcompals: The F-16 drops flares so that heat seeking missiles are diverted away from the heat of the exhaust gasses. @jhcibils: No, I'm just watching from the ground. |
