Victoria and the moon

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 23 November 2010 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

The statue of Queen Victoria stands in the centre of the forecourt of South Shields Town Hall. I didn't intentionally want to produce a night time looking shot, this was taken as the sun was setting and I wanted to expose purely for the highlight areas, however, although I like the colour version I thought I'd try a black and white conversion in Nik Silver Efex.

I think it turned out reasonably well.

What an exceptional composition, and the B/W is just the perfect touch...it almost looks like the statue is looking down to the moon

You understate this version, Curly - with the moon and the light on the pedestal - there is balance and drama in this image. Very well done.

Good evening Curly
The statue is beautifully illustrated. The choice of colors including exposure and details of the overall view like it very much. The moon in the background is a useful addition. Have a nice evening and all the best.
