@Zora Zoé Schmidt: I had in mind that I wanted to create a dark but fun mood with this to combine the "end of the world" feel with the happiness of the group of youngsters. So first I picked a red colour from the poster and created a new layer, this layer was filled with the fore ground colour (red) and the blend mode set to overlay. Then, working on the base layer I used dodge and burning brushed to increase the contrast darkening some of the pavement but lightening the area around the teenagers. Next I introduced a texture on a new layer and also set its blend mode to overlay before applying a little sharpening to this texture, then I adjusted the opacity of these two layers until I was happy with the effect. Next I switched off the visibility of the base layer and merged the top two layers into one, this layer than had a mask applied. Now I switched the visibility back on the base layer and using a soft edged black brush (opacity 50%) I painted through the poster on the top layer to remove the texturing and some of the red. Finally I made a large oval selection then inverted the selection, hit ctrl and j to set it on a new layer and I used levels to darken it down to create the vignette. That was about it, time to flatten down and save. @Roman: How very odd (or silly). |
