Run to the beatPosted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 30 September 2011 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio. The North Tyneside steel Band, on the John Reid Road, sound better every year, they get bigger, and play a wider repertoire, the quality sounds so much better too. I'd listen to them a bit longer but I have to follow the runners. Event: Great North Run This is part of a very long series of pictures telling the story of the 2011 Great North Run as it ended in South Shields on Sunday 18th. September. The 13.1 mile half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields is the largest of its kind in the world, attracting elite world class athletes and thousands of fun runners raising cash for their favourite charities. I've tried to create the whole series in a "Polaroid style" using black and white and cross processed colours, I hope you all can stick with it and not fall victim to boredom. I apologise if this series ends up being too long, I shot about 400 frames that day and it was a hell of a job to pull about thirty of my favourites out of the crowd.
