The Stoll

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 27 February 2012 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

The Tyne Theatre, more commonly known as "The Stoll" on Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne.
The whole place was gutted right down to the brick walls a few years ago and expertly restored to its former glory.

I made this HDR in Photomatix from a three shot burst, hand held.

Superb image, I love that they're preserving these old theatres, it's a pity they don't invest as much in some of the other old buildings around.

Now, here's a softy southerner speaking...it's got that Coronation Street gritty feel to it. I know part of that is the HDR, but there's something in the style of the place too.

I see from the ghost lettering (and from visiting Wiki) that it must have a new sponsor . . your presentation suits it perfectly here.
