William Fox Hotel

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 1 May 2012 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Westoe Village in South Shields is a little hidden gem. It contains some of the largest properties in the area and in the past housed the great and good who fashioned the history of South Shields. Our first MP, former mayors and councillors, shipyard owners, industrialists, doctors and scholars, historians, cricketers, prime ministers - they all lived here.

This is the Sir William Fox Hotel in the village, William Fox was Prime Minister of New Zealand three times don't you know! He was born here.
