Silly Tuesday (newly married edition)

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 8 May 2012 in Transportation and Portfolio.

Marriage seems to be a hot religio/political topic these days in the UK, lots of debate about supporting marriage through the tax system, lots of debate about NOT allowing same sex "marriages" in churches, lots of argument over divorce rates, LOTS of silly political things going on around marriage!

Much of life is all about partnerships and commitments, I just wish our politicians could decide that the state's role in the partnership between citizens and government should be as small as absolutely necessary.

Anyway, good luck to the newly marrieds found in Durham's North Bailey, somehow judging by the size of their retinue and partner car, I don't think the ceremony took place in the cathedral.

One of these partner cars looks silly to me and totally out of place in the older confines of the small streets crowded around the back of the Norman cathedral, and I don't think it is the shiny old girl in the front!

lovely selection of shots recently Curly. Yesterday's treatment delectable. Have to agree 100% with what you say above. A good partnership of whatever sexes are involved is far better than a bad marriage. They need to concentrate on far more pressing things, like the state of the nation.

I'll take the shiny one in front, not into gay marriage but our Vice-President indorse it yesterday, Obama is backtracking. A political hot potato:)

Excellent shot, and a sad commentary on the 'institution of marriage'. I say that with 53 years of commitment behind me/us. To each his own in a sense, but what we see today is a major lack of commitment. Well done!
