Our moment to shine

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 17 June 2012 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

The Olympic Torch Relay made its way through South Shields yesterday moving from Crossgate to the Town Hall through Anderson Street and Ocean Road before following the coast to Whitburn Village and Sunderland.
Here we see two of the 8000 torch bearers swapping roles as one torch is lit from the fire of the other. This scene was shot by the Wouldhave Memorial just before they reached the coast.

Ted from South Wales, United Kingdom

the 'wet' explains the thin crowds?

17 Jun 2012 8:23pm

@Ted: NO, to be fair, the largest crowds were on the sea front with that clear run in to the reconstructed Great North Run finishing line. I knew that parking would be a huge problem so I went for the areas that I knew would be quietest, I was on a tight schedule because I was working on Saturday.
