Deconstruction (part 5)

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 3 August 2012 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

A short series of abstracts mainly put together using Pixel Bender for 64 bit Photoshop CS5.

A few moths ago the Bizz Bar on Ocean Road in South Shields suddenly collapsed showering the street with tons of debris. The building had been undergoing some "refurbishment" at the time of the collapse and little is known about the true reason why its structure spectacularly failed. I documented the aftermath the following day as contractors started to clear away the mess, the pictures themselves were not earth shattering but they gave me the basis for these artistic abstracts.

This was made mainly from a selection around the safety barriers in this picture.

(Dumb comment) The difference from the original to the finished result is amazing(Of course it would be, ...doh!), but what I'm getting at is that you could carry on down this road of picking a scene like the shop collapse and do what you have done(The "3d" images representing the concussed shock that someone would feel if they were in the building collapsing around them, the "Op Art" of today's image, and really take it further, maybe creating more destruction out of the destruction that is already there. (Jeez, the more I type, the more confusing this becomes...) i.e. this technique has got real "legs", and I'm sure a creative soul like you could really move it on to somewhere very, very unique.
