There is like a "reverie's atmosphere" in this one. Good portrait!

Amanda from Jersey City, United States

The depth of field highlights that she's lost in her own thoughts...everything else is blurred for the moment. Great shot!

Peter Knoop from Antwerp, Belgium

Great portrait, thanks to the DOF. Did you process the image to get that effect?

3 Sep 2009 1:45pm

@Peter Knoop: Yes Peter, some gaussian blur, skin smoothing, and a light soft vignette.

You'll get some qualms from street photographers who insist you need to use wide and you need to be up close, but zooms help catch people and convey something the train of thought and emotion they are experiencing that getting up close seems to kill, unless you are entirely invisible to the subject. Here is a favorite photographer I have as a contact on Flickr. He does a lot of work with a zoom on the street and it's really cool http://www.flickr.com/people/notsexyenough/

@Luis A. De Jesus R.: Thanks for that most interesting link Luis I particularly liked his LA street stories.

Hi. you should use a 2.8 lens to get blur....the post treatment is well done but a little "seeing"...not so progressive...

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

She's looking rather pensive here; as if there is a lot on her mind...oblivious to her surroundings. Love the composition and DoF here.
