South Shields Town Hall

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 16 October 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio.

HDR "created" from a single RAW file, again making copies at two stop intervals. I captured this one last month before the summer flowers faded away. Hope it looks OK, it's pretty much experimental (and fun) working with Photomatix.

Great photo and HDR treatment! I love the details on the building, and the visible structure in the walls. The tonemapping gives the building a very nice light.

Another beautiful job with the HDR processing. It does a great job bringing out the texture in the building's facade. The "punch" of red flowers is a great highlight as well.

an excellent result -- beautiful detail -- and i like your use of a single photo instead of multiple shots -- makes for much cleaner lines!! faaabulous!

16 Oct 2009 2:15pm

@dj.tigersprout: All of my later HDR work (which I will show shortly) is made from multiple exposure images bracketed at two stop intervals.

Amanda from Jersey City, United States

Perfect subject for HDR! I love the splash of red in the foreground.

Ralph Jones from Detroit, United States

Great HDR Curly. Maybe a little less saturation on the shadow would give you more detail on the flowers.

16 Oct 2009 3:06pm

@Ralph Jones: I gave that a try Ralph but the flowers ended up looking dayglow pink.

Anne from France

It looks really OK ;) !!! The HDR here is perfect !!! We can see all the details !!!! It's wonderful !!!

superb HDR

17 Oct 2009 2:09am

Chris Pereira from San Jose, CA, United States

great shot!

Sometimes i prefer to make an HDR out of a single RAW file (all the detail is there anyway) because sometimes things shift between exposures (usually my camera).

I love the red flowers in the foreground, and the dark clouds above :)

HDR really brought out the detail in the building.

Gorgeous! The composition is brilliant!

17 Oct 2009 4:54pm

Earnest from Oklahoma, United States

I think this is just as effective and HDR capable as more than one photo from the same location... today digital cameras are quite capable of this range and more than one photo is really unnecessary. Good one!

mascha from kootstertille, Netherlands

It looks great !! Beautiful photo!!
Have a nice weekend!!

17 Oct 2009 11:36pm

Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United States

I love this processing! Looking at the photo, the town hall is gorgeous with all its detail. But it is missing the dimensional look that a photograph has and now appears to look flat with no dimensions. This just makes it look like a painting instead of a photograph....what great fun that must be HDR!

18 Oct 2009 11:36pm

Bill Laing from Corvallis, OR, United States

Fabulous composition and processing.
