Uncle Sam's Circus #6

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 24 October 2009 in Transportation and Portfolio.

Another truck, another HDR.
You can tell I've been bitten by this bug.
Taken in South Shields Bents Park when Uncle Sam's Circus came to town.

Always a good treatment on ur compos mate, like this one as well.
PS:For one my last shots, yes it's a HDR but blended with the "0" exposure for the ghost effect ;-)

Ted from South Wales, United Kingdom

nice one Curly, my favourite so far and really like the way the composition fills the space with the angular cab!
I find it's hard not to get bitten as the HDR/tonemapping always seems to extract so much more detail. Nowadays I try not to use it all the time and dial down the saturation beforehand for a more natural effect. I'm no expert, but like your shot here, it really works on vehicles and highly reflective surfaces, allowing you to see more than the naked eye would of the the surface reflection e.g. http://ted.aminus3.com/portfolio/132.html

I like this more as a photograph because HDR is not so overwhelming. Most folk might even peg it as a normal photo with splendid coloring. The prior shots in this series were beatiful in their own right, but for me they popped off the screen as a different form of art. Either way, don't abandon it - you do it well.
