Road rage!

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 29 January 2010 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Well with some time to kill, you may as well have some fun with the camera!
I set the Pentax on auto and self timer, sat it on the dashboard, then had a few "rages" at it, hence the shaky fuzzy look. Then into Photoshop for some serious distortion and voila!

Don't worry folks, nobody was hurt in this production and the engine was switched off in a very stationary car.

PENTAX K100D 1/30 second F/5.6 ISO 800 27 mm (35mm equiv.)

29 Jan 2010 2:34pm

Self-Indulgence from Chicagoland, United States

Excellent! Looks like me during rush hour ;) You have that bit of distortion in the face area which exemplifies the emotions and actually while I do not like HDR on people because it turns their skin into marble, you have done it smoothly here.. and.. it has given this an illustrated feel.. creating a caricature. Nicely processed.

29 Jan 2010 2:49pm

@Self-Indulgence: No HDR in this one, all done from a normal .jpg in Photoshop.

Graham Morgan from Liverpool, United Kingdom

Im not a big fan of HDR but this photo is superb, great facial expression captured brilliantly Curly

2 Feb 2010 9:53pm

@Graham Morgan: It's not HDR Graham just a few layers in Photoshop, some masks, hue and levels adjustments, and then the liquify filter thrown in too.

Jen from Bartlett, United States

You honestly crack me up. Why were you using an ISO of 800? After careful inspection, I see that it is not an HDR. Had us fooled.

2 Feb 2010 11:45pm

@Jen: Dull day Jen, dark interior of the car, and I particularly wanted a light cartoonish feel, I tried a few at iso 200 and 400 but my face was too much in the shadows still.

Jean-Michel from Herstal, Belgium

Car accident... A Madman ? Or something like that... But he seems uncool ...
