Lot's Wife , Marsden Bay, South Shields

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 15 March 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This is Lot's Wife, a limestone stack no longer attached to the mainland and located in Marsden Bay, South Shields.

Pretty much a straight forward black and white conversion with a little extra contrast, from the series of RAWS which I used to make the recent HDR series from the bay.

Xerophytes from London, United Kingdom

I don't like the edge of the Lot's wife, it almost look like it was cropped and placed in the picture. Other than that, it was a great HDR.

15 Mar 2010 4:48pm

@Xerophytes: This is not HDR just straight forward black and white processing, perhaps I'm guilty of over sharpening with it though.

superb shot...the contrast and sharpness are just brilliant...but the white line around the rock(which detaches it from background) is a little bit unpleasant...i think it's because of sharpening...anyway it's ssso nice:0

22 Mar 2010 8:34pm

drphoto from Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

Nice shot, great textured subject but I think you may well have oversharpened it, or your selections when editing the sky & the rock have been to loose causing fringing.

I would normally overlook it except that I have come to expect better from you =Dp
