World famous ice cream

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 17 April 2010 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

These images are part of a collection submitted for an exhibition to be held in The Customs House in South Shields in September. They were all taken in the South Marine Park during an event entitled "48 Hours", which encouraged South Shields people to enjoy the recently refurbished park on the sea front.

Minchella's world famous gold medal winning ice creams have always been a treat on a sunny day, worth queuing for.

Sonia Nansid from Stockholm, Sweden

This is a happy shot! I especially like the marks of the sand on the ground showing the movement of those who have been there at another time and are no longer in the picture.

17 Apr 2010 6:11am

@Sonia Nansid: Oddly it isn't sand, it's tarmac. I think the marks are left from a previous treatment with a pressure washer, they are barely visible to the naked eye but this plug in is great at enhancing the micro detailing.

An interesting series Curly. Strong graphic and textural treatment. A book illustration kind of feel to them.

This is a really good image, Curly - but one element just pulls me in - the girl holding hands with her boyfriend, while her other hand is busy at the end of her arm, holding a mobile phone to the ear between them. The boyfriend is talking to another friend - oblivious to her distractions - - - it just seems so Twenty-ten. And all of this is set against a scene that is so traditional. An ironic capture I'd suggest.
