the name on the wall somehow gives the building a presence of life and exsistance even though it probably has nothing to do with the building in the first place

@keith: It was originally the housing for a steam driven pump which drained water out of the Tyne Main Colliery.

You are very good at finding spots. Also brilliant processing. Am I guessing right, that you are an Aplus member thus not getting your pictures further compressed?

22 May 2010 9:38am

@Henrik Herskind: No I am not Henrik, but I use "save as" rather than "save for web", it retains the exif information and I set the file size to around 350 Kb. I guess this might compensate for any further compression in the upload.

Anca from Galati, Romania

very well done my friend, I think the compo is exceptional. leads ones eye right where you want it, and the beautiful detail is frosting on the cake, not alot of Bl& Wh from you, this is really exceptional!

Henrik Herskind from Copenhagen, Denmark

I'm sorry to say so, but the majority of your pictures are about 150 Kb with a few exceptions around 200 Kb. My pictures are about the same size as yours, when I upload, but most of mine are compressed to about 75 Kb. It seems to be a matter of how strong a picture has been postprosessed: The more PP, the less Am3 compression. So I think your extremely sharp Am3 pictures have another explanation, such as Sharpener Pro?

22 May 2010 11:33pm

@Henrik Herskind: I just use smart sharpen in Photoshop

mirela from brighton, United States

Great spot. Nice details, and the image fits very well in BW. I would have cropped the hole in the upper part of the shot to make the motive a bit cleaner, but it is just a peanut. I like this photo.
