A swirl of pipes

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 15 November 2010 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

The annual Act of Remembrance was held at Westoe Cenotaph, South Shields on Sunday 14 November 2010.
The public service was conducted by the Rev. Paul Kennedy of St. Michael and All Angels, Westoe, and Father Michael Wymes of St. Bede, South Shields.
A huge crowd attended to witness members of the armed services, uniformed youth organisations, Veteran's Associations, civic leaders and members of the public paying tribute to the fallen of two world wars and numerous conflicts since.

The parade from the Town Hall was led by the pipes and drums of 101 Northumbrian Rgt.

This is the first in a photo story series lasting the next seven days.

The crowd is always a problem in this kind of events. But your post-treatment is just perfect to hide them... this works really well. And the colors are very appropriate. Good job Curly. Have a nice day :)

Ted from South Wales, United Kingdom

hate to be the dissenting voice but the mist effect is a bit too sugary for me?
On the other hand I'm sure you had a great Sunday afternoon and I was made up for you. Don't forget you've got to give Welbeck back!

15 Nov 2010 8:21pm

@Ted: Mist? I was hoping to create full blown battlefield smoke and clouds Ted. As for Welbeck, I think it's the first really good game that he's had, but he did link up well with Gyan and caused Chelsea lots of problems. Now, when Bent is fit again Welbeck's chances will surely be limited.

I understand where Ted was coming from with his comment about the mist because it is definitely bold. But subtle has been done and we need some seriously bold pictures out there. Looks great!
