Fading away

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 26 November 2010 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

First time I've tried to tone map a plant or a flower, this is one of the last roses on view in South Shields' West Park processed in Photomatix Pro 3 and then in Virtual Photographer. I preferred the older Photomatix for this one because of the softness and additional noise that it creates in its HDRs. I was also wanting to try and accentuate those few veins and tiny water droplets.

Personally tried that and failed to get a good result for close ups as HDR adds too much noise to the blurred areas. This has came out nice and soft, with the effects afterwards.

I've never done tone mapping-so I don't have a clue if this has worked out as you expected or not! As you know I'm a colour bigot, so I would probably have preferred it in colour-but what do In know?
