I'm pretty short of new material at the moment, also pretty short of inspiration and motivation to go out and get it (I'm going through another of those blue periods.)

So for the next ten days I'll be taking some time out, perhaps tramping around with my camera, if the legs and hips don't give up. I'll be posting some stuff from last year's archives which I wasn't able to squeeze in at the time, I'll try and get around a few of your blogs as and when I can but I will thank you generously here and now for all of your wonderful comments and words of encouragement.

This one was taken during the Aswad concert in the Bents Park, South Shields during South Tyneside's Summer Festival.

Warmly toned welcome-picture of a peaceful social event. Sometimes simple snapshots are enough to gladden our hearts. Bravo.

Nice timing, I like the guys tattoos - they are an interesting detail in this shot. Winter doesn't make me rush outside to take pictures either ^^

Curly, FWIW, I had a shit year last year too, and I absolutely recognise the cyclic ups and downs. What I absolutely know is that being out, walking in whatever the weather, if infinately better than being indoors. I started off staying indoors, and ended up doing dumb things like sending myself e-mails"Just to prove that e-mail was still working"-because even the spammers didn't want to talk to me!
Even if it hurts, get on a bus, get in your car, and go see things. You'll feel a ton better when you get back.

Very nice piece of photojournalism, Curly, with this shallow depth of field. I like the Aswad tee shirt - good to know they are still around. Hope your time out proves refreshing. Look forward to your return.

You gotta love those blue periods, Curly, they spur us on to greater creativity so often. I went out around London's South bank for the first shoot of the year and came back completely inspired and ready to rock. Neat shot that catches the moment wonderfully.

Great story line going on here. I love the interplay. Each viewer will interpret it his/her way--greeting or fighting, but that's what's great about the image. Glad you got out and about. I know the feeling. I'm thinking that I may be turning into a fair-weather photog.

I love the sepia processing here. There's only one thing I hear this woman saying for some reason, "Come to Mama." :-) Where does the name Aswad come from? A friend of mine shares a surname by the same name.

Don't mind the blue periods. Just make sure you've got a lens with you in case you see a shot. By all means, keep it fun. I'm always running out of gas, lol.
