Amalfi in the shade

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 16 January 2011 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

I'm pretty short of new material at the moment, also pretty short of inspiration and motivation to go out and get it (I'm going through another of those blue periods.)

So for the next few days I'll be taking some time out, perhaps tramping around with my camera, if the legs and hips don't give up. I'll be posting some stuff from last year's archives which I wasn't able to squeeze in at the time, I'll try and get around a few of your blogs as and when I can but I will thank you generously here and now for all of your generous comments and words of encouragement.

This is a three shot HDR made in Photomatix 3 and shows a small older side street in Sunderland, behind the Minster and leading down towards the Empire Theatre.

Oh that shadow play is exquisite, Curly. HDR lends itself so well to a frame such as this, with details coming alive from those pixels. Superbly processed.

And Green colors as always trouble maker, in HDR pocessing.

16 Jan 2011 9:05pm

@saleh: I don't see them being a problem at all in this case, the sunlight is falling obliquely across the evergreen tree on the left and the cupola of the building in the background. This light is seen by the eye and reflected in the under exposed frame used in the HDR production, in a normal frame it would be insignificant, but because HDR and Photomatix work to develop the whole gamut of colours and light found in the three exposures it naturally shows in the end product, closely reflecting what the eye saw.

Looks kind of magical. Good luck with your wanderings - It is a tough time of the year to maintain motivation.
