Living the dream

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 21 January 2011 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

I'm pretty short of new material at the moment, also pretty short of inspiration and motivation to go out and get it (I'm going through another of those blue periods.)

So for the next few days I'll be taking some time out, perhaps tramping around with my camera, if the legs and hips don't give up. I'll be posting some stuff from last year's archives which I wasn't able to squeeze in at the time, I'll try and get around a few of your blogs as and when I can but I will thank you generously here and now for all of your wonderful comments and words of encouragement.

Busy street found in Middlesbrough, pre Christmas.

21 Jan 2011 9:30am

@Sonia Nansid: When I said pre-Christmas it would have been more accurate to say mid October.

Barbara Lee from Oakland, United States

Hey, Curly, congratulations on the spotlight! This is a wonderful photo. I love all the busy folks on this street, going abou their daily lives. The spot of color on the little girl is perfect, it draws my eye to her,she is a sweet counterpoint to everything else that is going on. So well done! Bravo!

23 Jan 2011 3:46pm

@Barbara Lee: Thanks Barbara, I never really imagined that this old image would be good enough to be chosen for the "spotlight" especially when I see so many good ones amongst the 900 - 1000 posted every day on AM3. So I was pretty surprised to say the least.

Children can overpass any "blue period", is not true? Because they are magic all the time they remains children. This is the secret for the mature: remain child in his/herself.

@bergie8: No it isn't actually, I've used the Lucis Arts plug-in for this one.

Amanda from Jersey City, United States

Beautiful! And congrats on the spotlight! I see this as a young woman walking down the street, cool and calm, but her inner child (the girl in bright color) skipping along side her. Reminding her not to take life too seriously.
