George Washington's family birthplace #1

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 6 March 2011 in Architecture and Portfolio.

I have been promising to run this little series for a while now, for the benefit of our American friends in AM3.

This is Washington Old Hall, just a few miles from South Shields, it is the family home of George Washington's ancestors, the first President of the USA.

Three hand held shot burst to make the HDR in Photomatix Pro 4.

PENTAX K100D 1/125 second F/5.6 ISO 200 18 mm

As I've come to expect, a wonderful photograph. Certainly you're joking about the birthplace of George Washington? Perhaps Barrack Obama was born in a foreign country, but all other U.S. presidents were born in the states or colonies. I apologize if I'm missing the humor in this. Have a great Sunday Curly.

6 Mar 2011 6:45am

@Kenny: Of course Kenny, this is his ancestral home where his great grandfather John Washington lived before emigrating to Virginia in 1657

Richard from Duns, United Kingdom

Impressive processing and I think Kenny's correct. Is this perhaps the former home of GW's grandfather

6 Mar 2011 7:32am

@Richard: Great grandfather to be exact Richard, John Washington emigrated to Virginia from here in 1657. Woke a few people up though (including me)!

@Roman: Actually this was a terrible one to produce colours that I liked, I struggled for ages to get an acceptable green for the lawn!
