Walk in the fog #11

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 18 April 2011 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

A final look at the river as I bring this series of foggy South Shields to a close.
Taken from Redhead's Landing this shows the yard of Aker McNulty Marine on the right, where North Sea oil rigs and modules are serviced, modernised, and repaired.

Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United States

Just magnificent Cury - the fog gives one the notion of silence and calm, yet when activities are ongoing at Aker McNulty where they mend the rigs etc,. I am sure that it is quite the opposite. Yet this angle and the scene simply compel the mind to calm down and take it all in with a big deep breath! Marvelous as always, Curly...All the Best!

As soon as I saw this picture, I thought of Frank Meadow Sutcliffe! The green tint is a great idea, I don't think a simple grey, or a common ochre, would be as much effective. Well done!

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

An interesting PoV that you've captured here with great fog. I love the lone bird that you've caught flying here. Actually gives a serene feel to this.

18 Apr 2011 9:55pm

@Steven: I don't know what made me decide to leave it there, I often clone birds away seeing them as distractions. Then every now and then I leave the scene as natural as possible.

Scene by Sharon Photography from Kingston, Ontario, Canada

I don't want this series to end ...

18 Apr 2011 10:20pm

@Scene by Sharon Photography: All things must pass, and time can only move in one direction...........forward!

Nina from Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States

Curly, this series has been really fantastic - to me, more of a newcomer, I think it's very un-Curly like. I love that you showed a different, softer side to your images. Don't get me wrong, I like the HDR stuff, I just think this series was just really special.
