Strong and straight

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 21 April 2012 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

Another view of the Angel of the North at Gateshead.

Some people hate it, but I think the vast majority of us love it, this statue has become one of those iconic landmarks that let you know you have arrived home after a long journey, the others up here are Penshaw Monument and, for some, the Tyne Bridge.

Black and white conversion in Nik Silver Efex.

Marvellous choice of angle - a different view of this icon. I like the way the figures give a sense of scale - adds to the sense of place as well.

Another excellent shot of this Curly. Apart from it's impressive size though I find it hard to understand this sculpture's popularity. The fusion of man and machine as an angel, what's that about? Industry the saviour of the north?
