Potting the black

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 22 April 2012 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio.

Just a quick little shot of a couple who suffered from a "misspent youth" enjoying a frame of snooker in the Shields Snooker Centre, South Shields.

I used to play fairly regularly myself until my eyesight deteriorated a few years ago. Now I find it too difficult when wearing bi-focal spectacles.

Real atmos here, it's almost a pity that they banned smoking, as that is what this needs to make it a timeless classic(IMHO).

I like the compositon you've picked...Well captured.

22 Apr 2012 8:16pm

Maria from California, United States

I like the angle that you chose...
although I'm not much for black & white images, your images have a very soft feel, the black it's always very ....tolerant...or..no idea how to call it, but it's pleasing to the eyes. Or better said, the contrasts are just right...too much contrast could be disturbing to the eyes. To borrow your expression, I think your black & white images have a very classy feel to them, which helps turn ordinary subjects into works of art.
