Not just another view of Souter lighthouse at Marsden, South Shields.
You will find many of these sturdy wooden benches along the cliff top coastal footpaths that meander for about three miles. Many of them have inscribed brass plates dedicating the seat to the memory of a loved one who perhaps enjoyed these scenic views, or worked on the sea, or sadly took their lives near this spot.
A sad and sobering fact of life is that these cliffs attract those who failed to get the network of support that we all depend upon in life.
