Lokesh from Hyderabad, India

nice processing Curly... what are the barricades on the beach for.... ?

11 Oct 2012 5:12am

@Lokesh: Just to break up the action of the waves and reduce the erosion of the sands.

Love collecting shells, I like the simplicity of this

11 Oct 2012 6:26am

ursulakatariina from Leixlip, Ireland

Interesting, but a bit too much white for my eyes.

11 Oct 2012 6:33am

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

With your processing, the groyne line works beautifully in this composition, Curly. The barrier seems to enclose the shell collectors in a world of their own.

11 Oct 2012 6:46am

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Lovely image, collecting shells is one of the must do's when you walk on the beach

11 Oct 2012 6:51am

Veronique from France, Switzerland

Excellent too. What do you use ? Silver effect pro ?

11 Oct 2012 7:02am

@Veronique: Yes, that's the one! I use the "Classic portrait" module, then apply a curves adjustment layer for the highlights. After that I make a circular selection and invert it, set this on a new layer and fill with white, set the blend mode to "screen" and adjust the opacity. Sometimes I add a mask to this layer and paint through with black to reveal a little more detail below.

Aubélia from Kortrijk, Belgium

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

Black blacks, white whites. My kinda PP. (Have a look at my comment on Dougs shot today, and you'll see why) Interesting that you use the multi layer , partial opacityscreen/multiply/hard light/softlight process in Photoshop. If I want grit/contrast, that's what I do too.

11 Oct 2012 9:53am

kiwisa from North Shore, New Zealand

Another dreamy composition

I love these little surf breakers, they remind me so much of Blackpool when I was a kid. A lot of them need a lot of restoration work done on them, they have done well over the years.

Stu from From Scotland | Living in 京都 Kyoto, Japan

Yes, a fine image Curly. I used to use Silver effects too until I had to upgrade from XP and lost the use of Photoshop CS3 which isn't supported by Windows 7. I decided to go with GIMP and must say that it's a very impressive package, especially given that it's free. If you're ever in a fix it's worth a look.

11 Oct 2012 2:06pm

@Stu: I have Gimp on my Linux machine Stu, just haven't found the time yet to learn how to drive it :-)

Michael Fresh from Chester, United Kingdom

A superb hi-key type image Curly, and classic in concept. But it does remind me of heaps of over developed prints that I once experienced.

11 Oct 2012 4:32pm

STEED from D, France

This process is really excellent ....

11 Oct 2012 4:40pm

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Great contrasts achieved in this composition, but I can't get over the barricade here, which is quite pronounced. Seems like there could be a small opening to allow people to pass through. You can definitely see there's been a lot more walkers on the left side of the barricade with so many more footprints in the sand.

11 Oct 2012 4:55pm

Lena from San Francisco, United States

A beautiful beach scene...( my preference place ' Beach " ) nice processing. great image.
