Situations vacant - Strong Men

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 14 October 2012 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Passed through Bishop Auckland in County Durham not along ago on my way back to South Shields after a trip to Yorkshire. The Market Place and the main street were virtually deserted, and as usual it was raining.

If you ever wondered what the World's Strongest Men do when they are not competing on television, then this is probably the answer - they move the "street furniture" around in Bishop Auckland.

That brings to an end (for now) my little period in the White Room, back to some full colour for a few days now.

Update - sorry guys I'm working today (which is unusual on a Sunday) but may be able to catch up and make a few visits this evening.

thanks Curly, I enjoyed this "series".
These are no-rolling balls ?!

@maurizio jaya costantino: I was wondering where they were hiding the nine pins.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

I enjoyed the results of your "stay" in the White Room! Today's presentation is interesting as the Big Balls match pleasantly the old architecture around the square, an inspired idea for "street furniture"!

I've always said your photography had balls :-) nice series.

I'm gonna resist my normal urge for schoolboy humour..I have really enjoyed this series. I don't know whether you picked the images knowing that you were going to process them this way, but the results are that you get a strong foreground element, and then just enough background left to balance the shot. This, and the curvy seats are my favourites. Did the white room have black curtains, or was it by a station?

14 Oct 2012 6:50am

@CElliottUK: I swear I saw occasional silver horses running down moonbeams!

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

It's been an interesting visit to your white room, I like the way it can present your subject in a better way and throw the background further out
