Squirrel gathering nuts on a murky dirty damp day in the West Park, South Shields.
It is about four years since I first spotted a squirrel in South Tyneside and that one was in Coulthard Park, Cleadon Village. Since then I have photographed them in Cleadon Park, Harton Cemetery, and the West Park. A couple of weeks ago my father saw one in his garden in the town centre very near the Town Hall, I would not be surprised if we now have grey squirrels in Westoe Cemetery and the sea front Marine Parks.

@CElliottUK: I don't think we've ever had reds in South Shields Chris, come to think of it I don't think we've had any squirrels at all until the last few years. Although the Victorian park makers included them in the cast iron designs for park seating.
