St. Peter's church is at the centre of Harton Village, South Shields, a village which at one time was isolated and not conjoined to this metropolis.
It was separated from the villages of Westoe and Cleadon by green fields and agriculture until urban sprawl swallowed it whole after the Second World War.
I think I processed this one using Nik software, Viveza 2 to add a little structure, the NIk Color Efex for the tonal contrast and a little bit of detail extractor.
Use control and your mouse scroll wheel to zoom the picture/page, then control and 0 to reset to normal size.
