Half time team talk

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 24 October 2013 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio.

This is Westoe RFC vs Waterloo played at Woods Terrace, South Shields.
Westoe Rugby Club have been a permanent fixture in South Shields since 1875, they share the ground with South Shields Cricket Club, Woods Terrace also offers tennis and squash.
Westoe currently play in the National League Third Division North and sit around mid table. Their biggest drawback is that they only have the one pitch, despite having four senior teams and a number of colts and junior teams (who need to hire pitches from South Tyneside District Council).

No cosy dressing room for these two teams, the half time pep talk is given out in the open!

Nice composition Curly, but I'm trying to decide if the pitch slopes slightly or the you have tilted the camera, either way the slight angle works well in this superb image

24 Oct 2013 5:45am

@Doug: Well........blame the photographer for the tilt. I debated whether to straighten it and in the end decided I liked the extra dynamic, besides, even with the tilt I felt the posts looked straight enough. I guess the cricketers won't be happy trying to bang a four along this uphill section though :-)

No expenses spared on the dressing room? Still a bucket of oranges and a glass of water?

All I can say Curly is the Horizon Police will not be happy. The treatment is apt though and takes me back to my school-days :)

Nice view, the pitchside is classic club rugby, a few hundred fans.

Great selective coloring that makes the team really "pop" in this shot!

Nicely finished Curly.
As for the tilt...is that a bit of a North East thing as I seem to recall your noisy neighbours have a bit of a tilt thing at one end?):-
