The main event last Sunday evening took place on Sandhaven Beach, South Shields just behind the fairground. Two shows, one at 6.30 pm with fewer big bangs, and the big one at 8.00 pm. Crowds were just huge for both and local knowledge was certainly needed to get a safe ride in, a good parking spot, and the ability to get away fast after the last firework without getting bogged down in the traffic.
I normally like to shoot from Trow Rocks to get plenty of light and colour reflecting from the sea, however this year I fancied doing things a little differently. So I got a little closer to the action right down on the sand.
There is a fellow almost on his knees in the wet sand, don't know if he was working with the pyrotechnics company or shooting some video, but he was pretty close to the "fallout area".
