50mm project #5

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 14 November 2013 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

Taken as part of a project when I spent a whole week shooting exclusively in manual mode, with manual focus, and using an old but much loved Asahi Pentax 50mm f1.4 lens.

So for this one I used a reversing ring on the body and mounted the lens with the rear element facing outwards, makes a very decent macro lens.

This is a small bolt used for making things fast (no not the 100 metre Jamaican variety).

I'd forgotten all about those reversing rings . . used one in my Pentax film days and you have altered me to there being such garnets for Nikon. I'd have to re-learn 'manual', though. Good posting, Curly.

Lovely close up work with the classic old lens. I guess the Jamaican version would need a gold and green backdrop.

In general, pack a big pile of screws like that if you buy a piece of furniture from Ikea

Beautiful clarity and colors!! You're the second person in as many weeks that has taken on a project like this. I need to practice in manual mode as well.

Sof is working just like you. Very interesting but difficult to be perfectly neat while opening at 1.4 focus.
I like the way the shadows (dark side of the table) goes from left below to up right.

Well done you. Never tried that reversing technique. If I reversed my 100mm macro lens it would almost become a scanning electron microscope ;)
