The unfortunate Donald Duckling

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 8 February 2014 in Transportation and Portfolio.

The Donald Duckling is going nowhere!
She is impounded on the Tyne and berthed at the old McNulty Marine yard in South Shields having been impounded by The Maritime and Coastguard Agency, because they believe she is no longer seaworthy.
See this BBC report detailing the bad time endured by the crew over the Christmas period.

Until the ship's Taiwan based owners pay for immediate and necessary repairs she remains here!

What a sadness this story carries . . sure does look like the sun is going down on the Donald Duckling.

During WWII my father flew on a B29 bearing the picture of Pluto on its fuselage. This boat's name sake reminds me of some of his stories.

Sunlight and rust are intimate friends ... this is a wonderful shot of what may end up being sold for scrap. ;o(
