A place to rest

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 11 February 2014 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

A small private quay along the banks of the River Tyne in South Shields, I think it is named Sovereign Quay (not too sure). However, you can access it from Wapping Street, and find a plethora of small boatbuilders down there.

Strange how any stretch of water suddenly looks a threat . . how easily we are 'conditioned' by events.

@Ronnie 2¢: Yes, I know what you mean Ronnie, fortunately the land rises fairly sharply along a good length of the Tyne valley so no real flood plains to worry about until you get more upstream in Northumberland. The tiny bits of flooding that we had in December amounted to inches rather than feet and it only really affected the Mill Dam here and the Quayside at Newcastle.
