The old wooden buildings of the Volunteer Life Brigade on the South Pier in South Shields. The Volunteer Life Brigade has been operating, and saving lives, from this HQ since 1866.
Its wonderful observation tower gave views over the old Herd Sands and Sandhaven beach long before these piers and harbour were built.
Multi frame HDR made in Photomatix, after a good bracing walk around the sea front yesterday afternoon (we've had a bit of wind but no real rain or flooding issues like many in the UK).
