Eclipse of the sun

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 21 March 2015 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

Friday 20th. March, as seen through my lens, tripod mounted outside of my front door in South Shields.
This was about the best that it got, it was much better much further north, but we also had a lot of cloud cover to contend with too.

It's beautiful. I missed the whole thing - was at work and couldn't get out for even a moment during the eclipse.

@ursulakatariina: I thought they overbuilt the hype!

Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, France

Well done. Clear as a bell here but I was content with a view via a pinhole. Back to Basics :)

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

But you DID capture it!!! I even did not know WHEN and WHERE and HOW....

21 Mar 2015 11:47am

@Japanalia: Tripod, out on the street, manual focus, set the lens to infinity, use a cable release, aperture priority, and set the exposure compensation to -3 stops.

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, FL, United States

So clear in spite of the clouds ... I do not find moon shots at all easy.

23 Mar 2015 12:19am

@Judy aka L@dybug: This is the sun, not the moon Judy :-) The moon is passing in front of the sun.

digitalCG from Manchester, United Kingdom

Good effort Curly, one of the better ones I've seen.

23 Mar 2015 9:43pm

@digitalCG: All a bit of a anti-climax I thought.
