Baltic Square, Gateshead.

Posted by Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 14 May 2017 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

If you look back through my archives you will find this same view made some years ago (probably easiest to find it through the tag cloud.) I returned to make this new HDR because I feel that I have a much improved mastering of the technique these days. Three frames were shot (hand held) to make this in Photomatix.

Stunning image! Colorful and alive!

14 May 2017 5:55am

@Mauro Brando: Not quite "full on" but a little more vibrant than the last post.

Phil Morris from Saskatoon, Toronto, NYC, Canada

The chrome is lifelike and I think your HDR works so well with these type
of photos, wonderful !

14 May 2017 8:00am

@Phil Morris: Yeah I find that most metals respond well to HDR.

Hiro from Kyoto, Japan

Very nice HDR !

14 May 2017 8:27am

@Hiro: Not too lively Hiro?

Ana Lúcia from Leiria, Portugal

This is absolutely outstanding!!!

14 May 2017 9:37am

@Ana Lúcia: think so? Thank you.

Gemma Wiseman from Melbourne, Australia

The HDR certainly fine tunes the lines and shapes. The buildings seem to have greater presence in this scene.

14 May 2017 11:33am

@Gemma Wiseman: Yes the HDR kind of elevates some architectural shots, and injects new life into some others.

STEED from D, France

Absolutely"Modern" !!!!! "THE" Style for the Urban Photography .....Hat's off,Curly .

14 May 2017 12:07pm

@STEED: Yeah, this reminds me of a shot I made in Neal's Yard in London three or so years ago.

Shaun from Thorton, United States

Gateshead. has changed over the years. Looking at this image it is nothing like I remember it. I like the style of these buildings, and your HDR, brings them out well. Phil Morris is right that chrome and metal look well with HDR, as, I think does glass. A superb look at Baltic Square. 5*

Nicou from Sion, Switzerland

Quelle place et édifices en fond et ce ciel ces tons sueprbe vue.

14 May 2017 2:17pm

@Nicou: Je pense que le traitement HDR rend l'endroit meilleur que dans la vie réelle Nicou.

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

Yes, I like this one better. It is less noisy, yet you have clear , smooth details. I like the vibrant colors too.

14 May 2017 2:27pm

@Ruthiebear: Yes I think it is somewhat improved.

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

I was just about to comment when I was summoned to the garden by Mrs G who had discovered that a large branch had broken off an apple tree in our absence. So I have been out chainsawing for the last hour. Not something a person of my advanced years takes huge pleasure in anymore :) Nice crisp colourful view to take my mind off how knackered I now feel

14 May 2017 6:02pm

@grouser: Has a tornado passed through Ludlow?

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Quite nice HDR work. A beautiful image.

14 May 2017 8:53pm

@Steve Rice: I think I've learned a fair bit about tone mapping now, that I can produce what I see in my head for others to appreciate.

Irene from San Francisco, United States

This is beautiful! I looked at the previous one. You have really mastered the colors here and the HDR processing. I am a big fan of HDR but I am not good at it at all. Need to spend more time. I really like this image.
