Bill Murray?

Posted by
Curly (South Shields, United Kingdom) on 16 May 2017 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Not sure, was this Bill Murray depicted on the face of the Baltic Mill in Gateshead? Not sure, is that an old Minox Mini he is using?
The Baltic is a former flour mill now converted into a prestigious art gallery on the south Bank of the River Tyne, about 13 miles upstream from South Shields. I can easily spend four or five hours in there.

Three frame HDR made in Photomatix.

Gérard from Allauch, France

In any case, the drawings of his jacket look like the windows of the building

@Gérard: I had not noticed that, but it's true!

@STEED: Je ne sais honnêtement où ils ont trouvé sa photo, mais fait une bonne publicité pour la caméra.

Shaun from Thorton, United States

It is great that this building has been saved. It is sad that some great old building's were demolished in the North of England, especially around dock's. Forty years ago coming over from Ireland to spend time with relatives in Salford there were huge warehouses all around the docks there. Last year I went back there and all these buildings had gone. Gateshead did the right thing. Excellent image. 5*

16 May 2017 12:35pm

@Shaun: I have to agree with you Shaun, I'd much rather see efforts to re-use older iconic buildings rather than see them demolished.

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

Looks like Bill Murray. I like the building and art details. It is nice to now some old classic buildings are being restored and repurposed. super image

16 May 2017 5:05pm

@Ruthiebear: I've even found an old church in Sunderland which has been repurposed as a rehearsal room for aspiring musicians!

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Beautiful colors and textures captured in this shot!! It sounds like the Baltic is a great place to visit.

16 May 2017 6:31pm

@Steven: Ah...yes, great place to visit. It has a glass housed viewing platform high up. Great vantage point for photographing the bridges.

Brockaly from Leominster, United Kingdom

Great image, I allways fancied a Minox!

16 May 2017 8:04pm

@Brockaly: So did I, you could never find them !

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

Adela Fonts from Barcelona, Spain

I like the idea of using old buildings to teach art! A good picture Curly!

16 May 2017 9:09pm

@Adela Fonts: Yes, it has huge open galleries inside, a shop, and cafes too.

Elaine Hancock from Olney, United States

That is a great image on the wall and the HDR really makes it pop! I love point of view. I always like it when old buildings are re-purposed into something else. An art gallery is fantastic!

17 May 2017 12:12am

@Elaine Hancock: I wasn't happy with the POV to be honest. Next time I will try from directly across the river for a head on shot.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Beautifully done.

17 May 2017 12:24am

@Steve Rice: Glad you like it Steve.

Devi from Chennai, India

Come on Curly
Don't be so modest !! It is not average :)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Like Elaine says, it just pops out !

17 May 2017 6:06am

@Devi: Yeah it might "pop", but seriously the composition is pretty average. Just average "snapper" grabbing one whilst walking along the bridge :-)

L'Angevine from Angers, France

Superbe

17 May 2017 10:08am

@L'Angevine: Thank you

Anita from West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States
