A narrow street and gateway leading on to Carlisle Cathedral.
Just a typical three frame (hand held AEB) HDR processed in Photomatix.
Yes, I forgot to straighten it up!

Carlisle is a place I passed through by train on many occasions. I should have taken time there. I am so glad you can show me around that which I have missed. MikeM

Do you use a tripod when taking HDR? Lovely details in the architecture. The color is also strong.

2 Jun 2017 2:56pm

@Ruthiebear: Well no, to be honest most of the time I shoot hand held, most of the time three frames using auto exposure bracketing. I pick an ISO speed and an aperture which will give me fairly fast exposures of natural, 2 stops under, and 2 stops over. I then import these into Photomatix and play with the slider from there. I've tried to reproduce the colours as naturally as possible here, Carlisle and the Lake District are characterised by this very red sandstone and a quite greenish slate, you find them all over the surrounding area. When I do use a tripod, say for landscapes, I tend to go for five or seven frames from almost pitch black to almost pure white!
